The band was formed in early 1983. After several line-up changes when members joined the Bundeswehr, a permanent line-up emerged. The band then consisted of singer Peter Müller, guitarists Jörg Pryztarski and Andreas Büttner, bassist Andre Chapelier and drummer Chris Efthimiadis, also known as Chris Midias. The founding members were previously roadies for the band Steeler, but decided to form their own band. The band was initially known as Destroyer.
