Atrocity

Having started in 1985 as instigators playing grindcore, Atrocity emerged as a death metal band with their first EP, Blue Blood, in 1989, soon followed by Hallucinations, a concept album about drug use. Their second album, Todessehnsucht ("longing for death"), ventured into death. Their musical scope broadened over the years, incorporating medieval and horror influences on the 1994 Blut, based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Willenskraft, released in 1996, introduced industrial elements. The later releases are less and less metallic; Werk 80's versions of 80's disco hits, unusual experimental songs like Lili Marlene featured on Gemini alienated many of their original metal fans.
