WebsiteBlack Debbath was formed in 1999 in Oslo by members from bands such as Gartnerlosjen, Bare Egil Band, LYD and Hurra Torpedo, signed to the label Duplex Records. In 2000, the band won the Grammy Award for its album Tung, tung politisk rock, which was shortly afterward taken away from it and awarded to the band The Kovenant. The host, Kristopher Schau, a friend of the band, had deliberately announced the wrong winner. The following year, in 2001, the band released its first studio album, Welcome to Norway. The band tours extensively and played in the summer of 2004, among others, at Quartfestivalen, Slottsfjellfestivalen and Øyafestivalen. In 2005, the band played at the Lost Weekend at Storåsfestivalen.
