Black Maria is a French rock band, originally from Évreux, in Haute-Normandie. After four studio albums, the band split up at the end of the 1990s. After a few experiences in other line-ups, Olivier Delacroix got closer to Philippe Nemmar, proposing to him the creation of a band in June 1986. The band was not really formed until 1987. In its beginnings, the band was made up of Olivier Delacroix, Philippe Nemmar and Franck and Gaël Guillotin. The band's name, Black Maria, is inspired by the term that designated the prison vans in England.
