WebsiteBlind Guardian is a German power metal band, born in the 1980s under the name Lucifer's Heritage. They draw inspiration from heroic fantasy and the world of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. Over the course of the albums, they place more emphasis on clarity, not hesitating to adopt melodies inspired by epic music. Through this, they distance themselves from many European formations to form, along with Gamma Ray and Helloween, the foundation of Germanic power-speed. They draw inspiration indiscriminately from all the great sagas, from the Iliad to The Lord of the Rings, by way of Dragonlance, Nietzsche, religious subjects, and above all the Silmarillion, which inspires the entire album Nightfall in Middle-Earth. The lyrics are written by singer Hansi Kürsch, and the melodies by all the members, in turn or in collaboration.

Hooded guy
Blind Guardian's mascot has been around from the very beginning. Drawn by Andreas Marshall, it's this bizarre being, a sort of faceless guardian who holds the monopoly on almost every one of the band's album covers.
