Formed in 1986 in Sudbury (Suffolk) by Mark and Paul Sutcliffe and Dave Crawte under the name Blue Bud. The following year, the band released a 5-track EP, Liqueur and Poker, followed by a UK tour alongside Tygers of Pan Tang. It was Mark who handled the vocals. In late 1987, the trio decided to hire singer Phil Kane and keyboardist Rob Arriss. This new line-up supported White Lion during a concert at the Marquee Club in London. The band obtained a recording contract with Music For Nations for their first album, The Big Noise. After numerous concerts, the band prepared its second album, Universal Language, slightly changing its name to "Blue Blood." However, with musical trends shifting toward grunge, their label did not renew the contract.
