The Groove Metal band Burn The Priest was founded in 1994 in Richmond (Virginia) by guitarists Mark Morton and Matt Conner, bassist John Campbell and drummer Chris Adler. Conner left quickly and was replaced by Abe Spear, while Morton temporarily stepped aside to devote himself to his studies. The lineup was completed with the arrival of singer Randall Blythe and later with Adler's return. In 1999, after Spear's departure and his replacement by Willie Adler (Chris's brother), the group changed its name to one that would become much better known: Lamb Of God. During its brief existence, the band still put out a few demos, two splits, the compilation Sevens And More, as well as a self-titled album in 1999.
