Website
Carcass is a British death metal / grindcore band formed in Liverpool in 1985 by Jeff Walker and Bill Steer. Between the goregrind of their first two albums, Reek of Putrefaction and Symphonies of Sickness, and the "death rock" of Swansong, the band managed to evolve its music while always maintaining a high level of technicality and humour. The band started in 1985 with Ken Owen on drums and Sanjiv on vocals. The latter left the band before the recording of the first album, and it was the duo formed by Jeff Walker and Bill Steer who handled the vocals for the first two albums. Michael Amott joined the band as second guitarist before the recording of Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious, an album that initiated their musical change while retaining the grindcore elements of their early days.
