Formed in 1993, it currently consists of singer Dez Fafara, guitarist Miguel "Meegs" Rascón, drummer Mickey "Bug" Cox and bassist Nadja Peulen. It went on hiatus in 2016. Coal Chamber is one of the pioneers of the nu metal style, contributing during the 1990s to the emergence of bands whose fame is now international, such as Slipknot and System of a Down.
