Death

Death is a death metal band originating from the United States, founded in 1983 by Chuck Schuldiner. The band is one of the pioneers of this musical genre; the very term "death metal" is often considered a direct reference to the band Death, even though the death metal band Possessed recorded, as early as 1984, a track named Death Metal. Chuck Schuldiner was more than the leader of Death: he was Death, and he never hesitated to change the band's line-up to adapt it to his musical desires. Death's members therefore very rarely played on several albums, and none played on more than two. The death of Chuck Schuldiner, on 13 December 2001, from a brain tumour, put a definitive end to the careers of Death and of his other project, Control Denied.
