Destra had its embryo in 1997 under the name Aquila, since Ricardo Parronchi was the bassist of a hard rock band of the same name formed by Túlio Regis, ex-Oficina G3 (vocals), Dico, ex-Katsbarnea, who currently plays with Catalau (ex-Golpe de Estado) and Victor Alexandre (drums). With the end of the band, Ricardo Parronchi decided to form a progressive rock band, still under the name Aquila, since the idea for the name was his. The proposal was to make a heavy sound but with a lot of melody, mixing metal and progressive rock among other styles such as jazz, MPB and blues. The lyrics would be sung in English and although not religious, directly or indirectly, they would all have a Christian message.
