EyeHateGod emerges from its (alcoholic) coma in 1988 around New Orleans (Louisiana). The band begins its career as a quartet, composed of Michael Williams (vocals), Jimmy Bower (guitar), Joe LaCaze (drums) and Steven Dale (bass). Four years after its debut as a band, EHG releases its first album, In the Name of Suffering (1992, Century Media). Reinforced by a second guitarist (Brian Patton) who until then officiated with their neighbors in Soilent Green, the long-haired Southerners have another go a year later with Take as Needed for Pain.
