Galactic Cowboys

The Galactic Cowboys formed in 1989 in Houston, Texas, at the initiative of bassist Monty Colvin and drummer Alan Doss of the band The Awful Truth. When Awful Truth split up, Colvin and Doss joined singer Ben Huggins and guitarist Dane Sonnier to form Galactic Cowboys. In 1990, the band signed to the label Geffen Records and released its self-titled first album in 1991. Despite the good reception, the band was ignored by the label because of the success of Nirvana's Nevermind at that same time. After weak sales and a few tours, they returned to the studio and released Space in Your Face in 1993. Space... allowed the band to become significantly more popular. The band appeared in the film Airheads, released in 1994, under the name Sons of Thunder. The song they play for the film, Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful, would not be released anywhere.
