Green Day

Green Day is an American punk rock band originally from Oakland, California, formed in 1987. The band was originally composed of singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt, joined in 1990 by drummer Tré Cool and in 2012 by guitarist Jason White. In its early days, the band was part of the local punk scene of the city of Berkeley. Their first albums, released on the independent label Lookout!, allowed them to build a solid fan base, but they turned some against them when they signed with a major label, Reprise Records, in 1993. In 1994 they released the album Dookie, which would enjoy immense success, with to date 10 million copies sold in the United States and 15 million worldwide. The band is recognized, along with the Californian bands The Offspring and Rancid.
