Terence "Geezer" Butler (born Terence Michael Joseph "Geezer" Butler on 17 July 1949 in Birmingham, England) is the bassist of the band Black Sabbath. Butler was a member of Black Sabbath between 1969 and 1984, taking part in all the albums recorded during that period. He had previously considered leaving as early as 1979, but reversed his decision after learning of the work done by Ronnie James Dio and Tony Iommi on the successful album "Heaven and Hell". Geezer Butler was also a member of the band Heaven & Hell, the last incarnation of Black Sabbath alongside Tony Iommi and Ronnie James Dio. Geezer Butler also founded his own band in 1995 (G//Z/R). Geezer Butler owes this name to his school friends, since he called everyone 'GEEZER'. Butler is one of the bassists who left their mark on the history of metal.
