WebsiteIn this year '81, the British new wave began to sweep over Europe. English heavy metal was riding high thanks to NWOBHM bands like Iron Maiden or Saxon. It was in this year that Holocaust, a band formed in 1976 near Edinburgh. The band formed in high school and their first album The Nightcomers arrived somewhat out of the blue. Certainly the Scots were influenced by the emerging giants, but not only. Indeed, they incorporated a touch of punk into traditional heavy metal. Many of you do not know this band, which had a meteoric career, but Metallica fans surely remember "Small Hours". Gamma Ray fans can say the same, with two tracks covered from the Scots: "Heavy Metal Mania" and "Death Or Glory", a track also covered by Six Feet Under.
