King Diamond

Kim Bendix Petersen, alias King Diamond, is a Danish metal singer and musician born on 14 June 1956 in Copenhagen. Known thanks to his performances with Mercyful Fate. He began a solo career after the band's split, in a less thrash, rather heavy register. Renowned for his impressive vocal performances (screams, howls, narration, theatrical and varied voices, sometimes ultra-high-pitched), he nonetheless remains one of the darkest metal musicians of his era (near-black makeup ahead of its time, records telling horror stories, with very dark, tortured atmospheres) and one of the most original. Accompanied by Michael Denner, Timi Hansen (both also coming from Mercyful Fate), Andy Larocque, and Mikkey Dee, he would release his first album in 1986: Fatal Portrait. Abigail marked an evolution toward a more theatrical style.
