WebsiteKiss is an American rock band formed in New York in January 1973 by guitarist Paul Stanley (real name Stanley Harvey Eisen, born in 1952) and bassist Gene Simmons (Chaim Witz, born in 1949). Very popular throughout the world, notably thanks to their make-up, their extravagant costumes, their many stage special effects and Gene Simmons's famous very long tongue, Kiss has sold more than 19 million albums in the United States and more than 100 million worldwide. The recordings of the band and its solo members have earned them 24 gold records, 9 platinum records and 10 multi-platinum records in the United States alone. Kiss is also often recognized for their 2,500 pieces of merchandise which sell in industrial quantities, so much so that the Kiss "brand" has been valued at 1 billion US dollars.
