Lorien

Lorien is a Spanish Power Metal band founded in 1996. Their name comes from the spirit of J.R.R. Tolkien. The band released their first album, Secrets of the Elder, in 2002. They would record one more, From the Forest to the Havens, in 2005 before splitting up in 2006. Lorien is something of a dark horse on the Spanish melodic power metal scene, playing a style similar to the old pillars of Spanish speed metal Dark Moor, and tackling subjects similar to those of many longer-established bands. They avoid being too similar to many bands by avoiding the use of symphonic sounds and, in their early days, managed to blend folk-sounding instruments reminiscent of Swedish and Finnish power metal bands like Stratovarius.
