Loverboy

Loverboy is a Canadian hard rock band formed in Calgary, in the province of Alberta. The band formed in 1980 when Mike Reno and Paul Dean decided to write songs together, then to play them on guitar and drums. The lineup was completed by the arrival, a few weeks later, of Doug Johnson, Scott Smith and Matt Frenette. At first rejected by the majority of American labels, the band decided to sign with Columbia Records in Canada, in order to record their first album there. Welcomed into the studio on 20 March 1980, Loverboy had Bruce Fairbairn as manager and producer and Bob Rock as engineer. The recording of the album, titled Loverboy, was completed before the summer of 1980.
