Genre: Black Metal
Country of origin: Norway
Formed in: 1993
The band was formed by singer Hate Rodvitnesson and guitarist Gaut under the name Blasphemy in 1989 as a black metal band, but with keyboards. At the beginning, Hate was both the singer and the drummer. The moniker was changed with a complete lineup. The band moves slowly, releasing two demos in 1993 (the unreleased In Sorrow) and 1996 (Sorgvinter). A first album was released in 1997, but a demo titled A Dark Journey was published in 1998. This led to a deal with Napalm Records of Austria, which took on the band with its female vocals and its keyboard. Mactätus means slaughter and immolation in Latin. The band claimed that Herr Bukkefot was involved in the church fires. Forn and former member Istar formed and played in another band called Svartahrid.
