Manowar

Manowar is an American traditional heavy metal band formed in 1980. The band was also described as "power metal" in the 80s, but at the time that term did not have the same meaning as it does today and simply referred to traditional heavy metal bands emphasizing the power of their music and warlike imagery. Joey DeMaio was working as a bass technician and pyrotechnician for the band Black Sabbath when Ronnie James Dio introduced him to the guitarist of the French band Shakin' Street, who were their support act: Ross The Boss. They quickly realized they shared the same dream: to found the most powerful heavy metal band in the world. They decided to give it a try and put a band together. A little later they hired Eric Adams on vocals and Donnie Hamzik on drums to create Manowar.
