Martyr

Martyr is a Canadian technical death metal band, originally from Trois-Rivières, Quebec. Formed in 1994, the band plays a very technical metal in the spirit of Atheist, Cynic or Death. It has been inactive since 2012. Martyr was formed in 1994 by the brothers Daniel (guitar, vocals) and François Mongrain (bass), alongside Pier-Luc Lampron (guitar) and François Richard (drums). Regarding the meaning of the band's name, François Mongrain explains that "Martyr is a way of thinking, a state of mind, a way of living. It is accepting to suffer in the name of a certain ideology, because of which the world cannot live in peace, because the world as we know it is just madness."
