Michael Romeo

Michael Romeo, born on March 6, 1968, is the guitarist and founding leader of the progressive metal band Symphony X. His guitar playing, inspired by Yngwie Malmsteen, is very virtuosic and neoclassical in its sonorities. He previously recorded a solo album, The Dark Chapter. His first spark was Al Di Meola, then later the Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, for whom he holds great admiration. He has taken part in all of Symphony X's albums (of which he is the main composer) alongside keyboardist Michael Pinnella, with whom he engages in solo duels. He was previously part of the band Phantom's Opera, which he left after the first album due to musical differences, but was invited to play on two tracks of the second. He is also the author of an instructional video, The Guitar Chapter.
