WebsiteNazareth was formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, as a semi-professional local covers band: The Shadettes (formed in 1961 and touring the pubs) by singer Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton (ex-Mark V and The Red Hawks), bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. In 1970, the band moved to London, England, and released Nazareth in 1971, Exercises in 1972 and Razamanaz in early 1973. This last album spawned two hits on the British charts, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy". The following album, Loud 'N' Proud, released at the end of 1973, contains another single in the hard rock cover of Joni Mitchell's track "This Flight Tonight." In 1974 Rampant was released, from which no single was drawn. A cover that appears on no album, "My White Bicycle", entered the UK Top 20 in 1975.
