Necronomicon

Necronomicon was founded in 1983 by band leader Volker "Freddy" Fredrich, Axel Strickstrock and Lars "Lala" Honeck. The band originally played punk rock, which is why "Freddy" founded Total Rejection in 1981. This first phase of Necronomicon was influenced by bands such as Discharge, The Exploited and GBH. Through the influence of Motörhead, Metallica and Slayer, their musical style would soon evolve more towards heavy metal. In 1985, the quartet signed its first recording contract with GAMA Records. That was a year before the recruitment of guitarist Jürgen "Jogi" Weltin. The band released its first album Necronomicon, still dressed in punk outfits on the cover. With a blend of hard thrash and strong punk rock influences, they gained notoriety on the underground scene.
