WebsiteNile is an American brutal death metal band formed in 1993 with the distinctive feature of tinting their death metal compositions with Egyptian atmospheres. Nile was born from the ashes of a first band called Morriah in which Karl Sanders had played since the 80s. After two demo albums, Nile released its first album "Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka" (a character imagined by the American writer H.P. Lovecraft) with Relapse Records in 1998. The following album, Black Seeds of Vengeance, helped strengthen the band's reputation, and the album was notably named album of the year 2000 by the British magazine Terrorizer. Recognition would come with the release of their third album, In Their Darkened Shrines. Then followed "Annihilation of the Wicked" and "Ithyphallic", still marked by Egyptian atmospheres and samples.
