Norther

The band started at the beginning of 1996 under the name Requiem. It was made up of guitarist Petri Lindroos and drummer Toni Hallio, accompanied by other musicians. Early in its existence, the band lacked places to rehearse, but toward the end of 1997, guitarist Alexander Kuoppala (ex-Children Of Bodom) found them a room at Lepakko that allowed them to play; they then decided to change their name from Requiem to Decayed. After the demolition of their rehearsal room, the musicians who played with Petri Lindroos and Toni Hallio left Decayed. The band decided to record a demo for the first time in 2000 under the name Norther. This demo then allowed them to sign a contract with Spinefarm Records. Their first album Dreams of Endless War, released in 2002, was very well received by the specialized press.
