WebsiteObituary is an American death metal band founded in 1984 in Brandon, Florida, under the name Executioner. In 1985, the band took the name Xecutioner until 1986, when it adopted its current name. The band released its first album, Slowly We Rot, in 1989. For the following album, Allen West was replaced on guitar by James Murphy and Daniel Tucker by Frank Watkins on bass. Allen West took his place back for the following album, The End Complete. The band's line-up would no longer change for the following albums: World Demise in 1994 and Back from the Dead in 1997. The live album Dead, released in 1998, and Anthology, the compilation released in 2001, conclude the band's career. Trevor Peres formed a new band, Catastrophic, with members of Pyrexia. Donald Tardy joined Andrew W.K.'s band. The band reformed in 2005.
