Genre: Symphonic Metal

Country of origin: Russia

Formed in: 2002

Operatika appeared in 2005 through a 4-track mini CD/demo, "Dreamworld", where the more than marked influence of Nightwish could be felt, largely thanks to the vocals of Slava, very close to those of Tarja. This band of Russian origin, based in the States, offers us today its first real album (which includes 3 of the 4 tracks from the mini CD). The influence of Nightwish is more present than ever (the vocals and melodies of tracks such as "the calling", "gladiator", "dark horizon" or "life saving flame" (borderline plagiarism!) - one feels transported back to the era of "Oceanborn" or "Wishmaster") but also that of Symphony X (on the rhythms in particular - "mask in the mirror" - and through the performance of the guitarist, in the virtuoso style of the 6-string). Moreover, it is the bassist of that band, Michael Lepond, who plays on the record.
