Pain of Salvation

Pain of Salvation is a Swedish progressive metal band, originating from Eskilstuna. Their original compositions combine emotion with great technical mastery, both in terms of instrument, rhythm and harmony. Founded by guitarist, singer, composer and lyricist Daniel Gildenlöw in 1984 under the name Reality, the band released its first studio album, Entropia, in 1997. Before the album's release, Gildenlöw renamed the band Pain of Salvation in 1991, a name found during a mathematics class. In 1999, the album was marketed in Europe, distributed by the label InsideOut Music, and in South America by the label Hellion Records.
