Website
Pestilence is a Dutch Death metal band formed in the mid-1980s. Their two demos caught the attention of the label Roadrunner Records. After signing with them, they released their first album in 1988: Malleus Malficarum. In the early 1990s, their style evolved rapidly towards greater complexity. First with Testimony of the Ancients (1991), which saw the use of keyboards and included brief instrumental "interludes" between the tracks; this album quickly became a cult album in the melodic and technical Death Metal of the years around 1992. Then one last time and in an even more radical way with their last album Spheres (1993), which incorporates jazz New Age influences. The band split in 1994 and reformed in 2008 with the album Resurrection Macabre.
