Pink Cream 69 was formed in Karlsruhe in 1987 by Andi Deris, Kosta Zafiriou and Alfred Koffler. They were joined shortly afterwards by the American bassist Dennis Ward. Only a year after the band's creation, it won the best newcomer contest of the German rock magazine Metal Hammer, which allowed it to sign a contract with a major label, Sony Music. The band quickly recorded its first album, soberly titled Pink Cream 69, which met with quite some success. It was followed by One Size Fits All in 1991, and Games People Play in 1993. In the meantime, the band built a solid fan base by touring with bands such as White Lion and Europe. Andi Deris would leave the band in 1994 due to musical and personal differences and would go on to join Helloween. After auditioning several singers, the band's choice fell on the Englishman David Readman.
