Plasmatics was an American punk band from New York, formed in 1977 by Yale University graduates Rod Swenson and Wendy O. Williams. They were known for their wild and provocative concerts that shattered every taboo of American popular culture. It was common to see them cut up guitars with a chainsaw, blow up amps, smash televisions with a sledgehammer, or even blow up cars on stage. Williams was arrested multiple times for public indecency and disturbing the peace. One of her arrests in Milwaukee greatly marked the band's history and inspired one of its most famous songs, A Pig Is A Pig.
