WebsitePrimal Fear is a German power metal/heavy metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers (vocals / ex-Tyran'Pace and ex-Gamma Ray), Mat Sinner (bass and vocals / Sinner), Stefan Leibing and Tom Naumann (guitar). Their style is a heavy power metal sound, with Ralf Scheepers' Halford-esque singing recalling the Painkiller era, the Judas Priest album. Scheepers formed the band after being turned down to replace Rob Halford in the Judas Priest line-up, a spot that went to Tim "Ripper" Owens. Many consider Primal Fear's first, self-titled album to be the album Judas Priest should have released instead of Jugulator. The first five albums are inspired by Judas Priest, but the band evolves from Seven Seals onward, becoming more melodic, and develops a more personal music.

Iron eagle
Primal Fear's Iron Eagle has been there since the beginning, but it's only on the cover of the album 16.6 that it becomes a sort of hybrid, half eagle, half human.
