Rage Nucléaire was formed in 2012 by singer Dan "Lord Worm" Greening after his departure from the band Cryptopsy. Greening subsequently recruited guitarist Dark Rage (also ex-Cryptopsy) and bassist Alvater (ex-Frozen Shadows). Their influences range from the early works of Emperor and Immortal to Anaal Nathrakh and Mysticum. Regarding the creation of the project, Greening explains in his own words: "Alvater called me to do the demo, and it went from there. Dark Rage, he and I already knew each other from having been part of the Montreal black circle (Le Conseil), so I guess I was sort of their first choice, or something like that."
