Randy Craig Wolfe, known as Randy California, born on 20 February 1951 and died on 2 January 1997, is an American guitarist, singer and composer, original member of the rock band Spirit formed in 1967. Randy California left Spirit in 1971 to begin a solo career, while occasionally rejoining the band during various reformations over the years. On 2 January 1997, while trying to save his 12-year-old son Quinn (who survived) from drowning, he drowned in the ocean off Molokai near his home in Hawaii.
