Website
Ratt's origins go back to 1976 with a San Diego band called Mickey Ratt, made up of singer and founding member Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Chris Hager, bassist Matt Thorr, and drummer John Turner. In 1981, the band shortened its name and became Ratt. Jake E. Lee, Chris Hager and Matt Thorr left the band to found Rough Cutt. In 1982, the band was now complete with Stephen Pearcy (singer), Warren DeMartini (guitar), Robbin Crosby (guitar), Juan Croucier (bass) and Bobby Blotzer (drums). In July 1983 the band released an EP on the independent label Time Coast. With this EP, simply titled Ratt, the band began to draw an audience beyond southern California. It contains the hit "You Think You're Tough". It also includes a cover of Rufus Thomas's 1963 "Walkin' The Dog".
