Repulsion is an American grindcore band formed in 1985. Its first name was Genocide. It is generally regarded as the first true band of the genre. Its repertoire contains almost exclusively tracks played very fast, using the now commonplace technique of the blast beat on drums. Its original discography amounts to four demos, the last of which, dating from the summer of 1986, first released under the title Slaughter of the Innocent, was reissued as an album in 1989 under the title Horrified. The band then reformed and released one final demo, Rebirth, from which Relapse Records extracted two tracks to make up the EP Excruciation, released in 1991.
