Requiem

One has to go back to 1999 for the creation of Requiem in Haapajärvi, Finland. The founding members are Arto Räisälä (guitar), Matti Auvinen (bass/vocals) and Rami Repola (drums). At the beginning they played a mix of melodic death/power metal with some neo-classical variations. The first demo, Gods Of War, was released toward the end of autumn 1999. In early 2000, Rami Repola (drums) left the band for personal reasons. He was replaced by Jari Huttunen, who was only 14 years old. At that time, Requiem had a more technical and more melodic direction. They decided to look for a keyboardist and a second guitarist. They played a few concerts with the new line-up and started to work on material for the band's first studio album, The Arrival. The band split in 2006.
