Rock Goddess

Rock Goddess is a British all-female heavy metal band, originating from Wandsworth, London, England. It was formed in 1977, classified within the New wave of British heavy metal. Like Girlschool, it is one of the rare entirely female metal bands. The band was formed in 1977 in Wandsworth, south London, by the sisters Jody Turner (guitar and vocals) and Julie Turner (drums) when they were thirteen and nine years old respectively. They recruited a school friend, Tracey Lamb, on bass and Donnica Colman on keyboards to complete the first line-up. The girls rehearsed intensively and, thanks to a friend, managed to place a track on a London underground compilation. Meanwhile John Turner, Jody and Julie's father, who ran a music shop, used his connections to find them their first gigs.
