Rough Silk is a German heavy metal and alternative rock band formed in 1989 in Hanover, Germany. For its music, the band drew inspiration from the band Scorpions. It was Ferdy Doernberg who got everything started. He first worked with many artists (in particular Uli Jon Roth, ex-member of Scorpions). He took up guitar and keyboards. After the departures of 4 members, André Hort took up the bass. Mike Mandel on vocals, guitar and keyboards. Alex Wenn took up the drums. They are no longer 5 in the band but 4. On 1 November 2008, Thomas Ludolphy died of an overdose. He was only 34 years old. The song "Top Singer" pays tribute to him.
