WebsiteSamael is a Swiss metal band. Their name comes from a figure in the Talmud, Samael. It was on July 14, 1988, that the two brothers Vorphalack (vocals + guitar) and Xytraguptor (drums + keyboard) held their first rehearsal in a bunker and gave life to S A M A E L. In the autumn of the same year they recorded their self-produced EP "Medieval Prophecy". They would then play a few concerts in Switzerland, France and Poland. Two years later they recorded their first album "Worship Him". Masmiseîm (bass) joined the band after the recording and the band became a trio. "Worship Him" came out a year later (1991). It is the very first release of the French label Osmose Production. In 1992 S A M A E L released its second album "Blood Ritual" produced by Waldemar Sorychta on the German label Century Media.
