Samson is a British heavy metal band in which three former or future members of Iron Maiden served: singer Bruce Dickinson from 1979 to 1981 and drummer Clive Burr from 1977 to the end of 1978, then drummer Barry "Thunderstick" Purkis from 1979 to 1982. An important band of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal formed in 1977, Samson is one of the very first rock bands of that era whose three musicians of the original line-up, namely Paul Samson, Chris Aylmer and Clive Burr, have all died of illness.
