Silbermond

The members of Silbermond ("silver moon" or "silvery moon") met on the occasion of a youth music project in 1998. After two years and several recording sessions, Johannes Stolle (bassist), Andreas Nowak (drummer), Stefanie Kloß (vocals), Thomas Stolle (guitarist and cousin of Johannes) decided to found the band JAST (this name is made up of the initials of their four first names). They had a few English-language compositions to their credit but their repertoire consisted mainly of covers of well-known songs during the first five months. These were the first ones with which they took part in three competitions and which helped them win prizes. Dissatisfied with their English lyrics, the band resolved to compose from then on in their mother tongue.
