Sod

S.O.D., for Stormtroopers of Death (read as an acronym, sod means "jerk" in English), is a metal band formed in New York in 1985 by two members of Anthrax: guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante. The line-up is completed by bassist Dan Lilker and skinhead singer Billy Milano. The quartet released a first album titled Speak English or Die, important in the history of metal insofar as it is one of the very first albums mixing thrash metal and New York hardcore. What was at first meant to be only a joke became an international commercial phenomenon that would give birth to crossover and allow a great many hardcore bands to reach the traditional hard-rock audience.
