Tai Pan

TAI PAN was a German thrash metal band from Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg, formed under the name BACKWATER in the early 80s. After releasing a few albums under the name BACKWATER, the band changed its name to TAI PAN in the early 90s and released the album "Slow Death (1995)" before splitting up. The reason they changed their name from Backwater to Tai Pan is that Backwater had submitted a demo to Shark Records, but had received a reply stating that the label "was not interested in hard rock". They then sent Shark Records the same recording under the name Tai Pan and were immediately offered a recording contract.
