Website
Tankard (a beer mug in English) is a punk-influenced thrash metal band founded in 1982 in Frankfurt. The band itself defines its style as "Alcoholic Metal" due to its very many songs on the theme of alcohol. The band was first called Vortex, then Avenger, and finally Tankard. In 1984 and 1985, Tankard released two demos: Heavy Metal Vanguard and Alcoholic Metal. Their first album appeared in 1986 on the Noise Records label: it is titled Zombie Attack. The following year, the band released Chemical Invasion, the first album whose cover was drawn by Sebastian Krüger. Their first real commercial success would be the following album, The Morning After 1988. In 1989, they released Alien EP, the first album on which the band's mascot, a green alien, appears. In 1994, the band released Aufgetankt under the name Tankwart.
