The Mission

The Mission [ðə ˈmɪʃ(ə)n]1 is a British rock 'n' roll band, originally from Leeds, England. It was formed in 1986 by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams, two former members of the band The Sisters of Mercy. They had to change their name to The Mission UK in order to tour in the United States, where another act already went by that name. In 1986, Wayne Hussey (guitar), who had previously been part of Dead or Alive2, and Craig Adams (bass) left The Sisters of Mercy to form their own band, which they initially named "The Sisterhood" as a provocation towards Andrew Eldritch, leader of The Sisters of Mercy (the latter would file and win a legal battle over ownership of the Sisterhood name).
