Threshold

Threshold is a British progressive metal band from Surrey, England. It was formed in the late 1980s by Karl Groom, Jon Jeary, Richard West, Damian Wilson and Tony Grinham. Their style is characterized by the classic attributes of heavy metal (distorted guitars, heavy use of the riff, guitar solos, use of the double bass drum, catchy choruses) with epic and deliberately pompous sonorities (keyboard layers, electronic effects, long developments), possessing structural aspects specific to the complexity of progressive rock by which they were influenced. Despite an undeniably commercial approach, Threshold was never truly able to break through in the English-language progressive metal landscape, confining them to a perpetual status of support band.
